Homeborn Slaves | Bound to the System, Tech, and Possessions

Born Inside the Walls

We were born inside the home of a master we never chose, yet somehow, we learned to love the walls. We sweep the floors of a prison we built with our own hands, polishing the bars and defending the very system that bleeds us dry. It is a quiet, comfortable captivity, one where the whip is replaced by a ping, a bill, and a glowing screen, and where we are so thoroughly conditioned that we will actually fight anyone who tries to set us free.

Look at the biting indictment written long ago in Jeremiah 2:14: “Is Israel a servant? Is he a homeborn slave? Why is he plundered?”

That is us. We are homeborn slaves trapped inside a matrix of our own making. We didn’t need foreign taskmasters with whips to keep us in line; we willingly traded our birthright for a self-sustaining cage crafted out of consumerism, technology, and misplaced devotion. Look at the lineup of our modern masters.

The System and the Fiat Dollar

The system and the fiat dollar demand our blood and breath. We mortgage our lives to green paper and digital numbers, working sixty hours a week to buy things we don't even like, trying to impress people we can't stand. The modern economy is our pharaoh, and we hand over our time, our energy, and our peace willingly, mistaking a paycheck for freedom.

Technology and Screens

Technology and screens keep us docile and tethered. We carry pocket-sized idols everywhere we go, little glass altars that capture our attention, shape our thoughts, and dictate our worth through algorithms and digital validation. We check notifications like anxious worshipers waiting for a sign from heaven, completely unaware that we are burning our focus and our youth at the altar of a Wi-Fi router.

People-Pleasing and Domestic Idols

People-pleasing and domestic idols quietly usurp the throne. Spouses, children, family members, and social status are constantly elevated above the Creator. When human approval dictates your obedience, your family and your peers have become your masters, and you bend the knee to keep the peace rather than standing tall in truth.

    • Jeremiah 17:5 — "Thus saith YAH; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from YAH."

Man-Made Rules and Fenced Sabbaths

Man-made rules and traditions govern every single move we make, right down to how we treat the very gift meant to liberate us. Look at how religious dogmas and heavy-handed human traditions have put rigid, suffocating fences around the Sabbath. Instead of experiencing the radical, restorative freedom of a day set apart by the Creator, we have turned it into another burdensome checklist dictated by legalism and men who love control. Corporate policies, societal correctness, and institutional religion box us in on every side, while the clear, life-giving commands of Torah gather dust on the shelf.

Everything and everybody has replaced our service to YAH. We have become absolute experts at multi-tasking our idolatry, squeezing the Creator into the tiny, exhausted margins of a life already spent serving everything else.

    • Isaiah 29:13 — "Wherefore YAH said, Forasmuch as this people draw near Me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour Me, but have removed their heart far from Me, and their fear toward Me is taught by the precept of men."

Stepping Out of the Slave Quarters

YAH did not redeem us from the mud and bricks of Egypt just so we could trade one taskmaster for another, becoming frantic, burned-out slaves to modern technology, corporate ladders, economic survival, or the rigid dogmas of men. We were not brought out of bondage to be bound by legalistic fences that choke the life out of His commandments. YAH freed us to serve Him and Him alone, walking in the wide, breathable expanse of His truth. The call echoing across time is still raw, urgent, and uncompromising: Let My people go.

    • Exodus 8:1 — "And YAH spake unto Moses, Go unto Pharaoh, and say unto him, Thus saith YAH, Let my people go, that they may serve me."

Drop the inventory of your modern idols. Tear down the altars in your own mind, smash the heavy fences of tradition, and step out of the exhausting treadmill of human approval and systemic survival. Repent of your spiritual whoredom and return to the absolute, uncompromising sovereignty of YAH. The slave quarters have no real claim over you anymore; walk out the door, take a deep breath of the open air, and finally reclaim your true inheritance.

Elohim still loves you, Israel. The call remains the same: Choose Life, Choose Blessing, Choose Undivided Devotion. Repent, Return, and be free from the shadows of gross darkness.
