Hebrew History 101 | The Cost of Cowardice | Blood On Their Hands

They didn’t come for our leaders in masks and capes. They didn't always send the cavalry through the front door first. Most times, the killing blow was set up by the person who held the umbrella, the person who drove the car, or the person who sat at the dinner table sharing a plate of beans. The "Feds" didn't just use wiretaps; they used the greed, the fear, and the shattered loyalty of men who traded the life of a leader for a few pieces of silver and a "get out of jail free" card.

This isn't ancient history or a dusty textbook lesson. This is the raw, bleeding truth of how the Nation is crippled from within. When we talk about Fred Hampton, Malcolm, and Martin, we have to talk about the shadows standing right behind them; the sellouts who sold the future of our children for a momentary pat on the back from the enemy.

The history of our people is stained with the ink of those who traded their loyalty for a paycheck or a plea deal. When the "Feds" (the FBI, through programs like COINTELPRO) wanted to dismantle our leaders, they didn't always use outside force, they used the person sitting right next to them.

Here is a breakdown of some of the most high-profile betrayals where the government used "one of our own" to silence the voices of the Nation.

1. Fred Hampton and William O’Neal

This is perhaps the most "hardcore" example of a cold-blooded sellout. Fred Hampton was the 21-year-old Chairman of the Illinois Black Panther Party, a man so powerful he was uniting gangs and poor people into a "Rainbow Coalition."

  • The Sellout: William O’Neal, a man the FBI recruited after he was caught stealing cars. In exchange for dropped charges and a monthly stipend, O’Neal became Hampton’s Chief of Security.
  • The Betrayal: O’Neal provided the FBI with a floor plan of Hampton’s apartment, marking exactly where his bed was. On the night of the raid, it is reported that O’Neal drugged Hampton with secobarbital so he wouldn't wake up.
  • The Result: Police stormed the apartment and assassinated Hampton in his sleep. O’Neal lived with the guilt for years before taking his own life.

2. Malcolm X and the "Archenemy"

While the world focuses on the gunmen, the infrastructure of the betrayal was built from within.

  • The Sellout: John Ali, the National Secretary of the Nation of Islam. He was suspected by Malcolm himself of being an undercover FBI agent or informant. Malcolm called Ali his "archenemy."
  • The Betrayal: Ali worked to widen the rift between Malcolm and Elijah Muhammad, fueling the fire that led to the death threats. On the night before the assassination, Ali was seen meeting with one of the men later convicted of the murder.
  • The Result: The internal division created by these "whisperers" provided the perfect cover for the state to watch as Malcolm was gunned down in the Audubon Ballroom.

3. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and the "Ghetto Informants"

The FBI didn't just have one person on Dr. King; they had thousands. Through the Ghetto Informant Program, they hired barbers, pastors, and even King’s own associates to report on his every move.

  • The Sellout: Marrell McCollough. For years, he was known as a member of the "Invaders" (a militant youth group in Memphis) and was an aide to King.
  • The Betrayal: McCollough was actually an undercover Memphis police officer and was later revealed to have deep ties to the CIA. He was the man kneeling over King’s body on the balcony of the Lorraine Motel, pretending to help while actually working for the agencies that hunted him.
  • The Result: The "inside" information allowed the government to monitor King’s psychological state and physical location with pinpoint accuracy until the day he was taken.

4. Geronimo Pratt and the Perjurer

Geronimo Pratt was a decorated veteran and a leader in the Black Panthers who was framed for a murder he didn't commit.

  • The Sellout: Julius Butler, a fellow Panther.
  • The Betrayal: Butler testified against Pratt, claiming Pratt had confessed the murder to him. What the jury didn't know was that Butler was a paid informant for the FBI and the LAPD.
  • The Result: Pratt spent 27 years in prison before it was proven that the "witness" against him was a government plant.

The Pattern of the Predator

These weren't just random acts. The government used a specific playbook:

  1. Identify the Weakness: Find someone with a criminal record or a hunger for status.
  2. The Payoff: Offer them money or freedom from jail.
  3. The Infiltration: Position them as "Security" or "Aides" so they are closest to the leader.
  4. The Strike: Use the "insider's" information to arrest, discredit, or assassinate the target.

As the Tanakh warns in Jeremiah 9:4:

"Take ye heed every one of his neighbour, and trust ye not in any brother: for every brother will utterly supplant, and every neighbour will walk with slanders."

The suffering of the Nation has always been multiplied by the ones who were willing to "walk with slanders" for a temporary reward.

The Wages of Treachery

We have to stop being surprised when the system uses our own against us. The playbook hasn't changed since the days of the prophets. They find the man with a secret, the man with a debt, or the man with an ego bigger than his devotion, and they turn him into a weapon. The suffering caused by these "inside men" didn't end with a funeral; it left a hole in the heart of the Nation that has yet to be filled. Every time we choose a paycheck over our people, we are digging that hole a little deeper.

The cost of being a "bootlick" or a "rat" is a debt that your soul can’t pay back. You might get the government's protection for a season, but you will forever be a stranger to your own blood. We must build a wall of loyalty that no amount of federal money can crumble. We must become a people who cannot be bought.

Elohim still loves you, Israel. The call remains the same: Choose Life, Choose Blessing, Choose Undivided Devotion. Repent, Return, and be free from the shadows of gross darkness.
