Shattering the Myths: One Covenant, One Wife, One GOD
For too long, certain interpretations of scripture have clouded our understanding of the Creator's heart and His unchanging Law. Today, we're cutting through the confusion to expose two deeply ingrained myths that undermine the sanctity of the covenant and the very character of our King.
Myth #1: The Subjectivity of "Many" – Deconstructing Deuteronomy 17:17
The command in Deuteronomy 17:17 to future kings is absolute: "Neither shall he multiply wives to himself, that his heart turn not away." For generations, many have twisted this, suggesting it merely means "not too many," leaving the precise number to human discretion.
Let's be clear: "Neither shall he" is a closed-ended, absolute prohibition. There is no magic number that suddenly makes "multiplying" acceptable. If GOD allowed man to determine how many is "enough" to keep him from undivided devotion, the fall of our greatest leaders wouldn't have happened.
- King David, a man "after GOD's own heart," had many wives, yet he wasn't satisfied until he took another man's wife and used the throne to commit murder.
- King Solomon, the wisest man ever, had so many that he still wasn't satisfied until GOD tore the kingdom from his son.
Multiplicity destroyed David’s house and divided Solomon’s kingdom. The command "Do not" is just as final as "Thou shalt not." From the Garden to the post-flood when the world was reset, Noah and his sons each had only one wife. Even the animals were brought in pairs - one male, one female- to preserve the order of creation. The Creator has always established the pattern of one. To justify polygyny when the history book of the Law condemns it is simply illogical.
Myth #2: The "Two Wives Lie" – Correcting the Narrative of Ezekiel 23
It is often claimed that the Creator is married to two sisters, Aholah and Aholibah, in Ezekiel 23:2. This would mean Elohim is violating His own Law in Leviticus 18:18, which forbids marrying a woman and her sister.
However, the ignorance goes even deeper. By suggesting GOD is married to both the Mother (Israel) and her two daughters (Samaria and Jerusalem), these "brothers" are low-key or boldly suggesting the Creator is violating Leviticus 18:17. That law strictly forbids taking a woman and her daughter, as it is “wickedness."
The truth is found in the text itself: "There were two women, the daughters of one mother." * The Mother: Represents the singular Nation of Israel.
- The Daughters: Represent the divided kingdoms (Samaria - the Northern Kingdom and Jerusalem - the Southern Kingdom).
The covenant is with the Mother, the nation, and not the divided kingdom. GOD never made a separate covenant with Aholah and Aholibah independently; therefore, He is not their husband and they are not His wives.
The Proof of the One House: Jeremiah 31:33
If there were any doubt that the Creator views His people as one singular entity rather than two separate "wives," we look to the promise of the New Covenant.
While verse 32 mentions the "husband" relationship, Jeremiah 31:33 provides the final proof. It says: "But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith YAH, I will put my law in their inward parts..."
Note that it does not say He will make a covenant with "both kingdoms" or "two wives." The New Covenant is made with the House of Israel - the singular, restored body. To consistently lie and say GOD has two wives is borderline blasphemy; it ignores the clear language of the prophets who point toward a singular, unified bride.
Conclusion: A Call to Unity
The Creator is not a GOD of division or multiplicity. He is a GOD of Order. When we return to the Law, we see that His heart has always been for one people, under one Covenant, in one undivided devotion to one GOD.
Closing Statement
Elohim still loves you, Israel. The call remains the same: Choose Life, Choose Blessing, Choose Undivided Devotion. Repent, Return, and be free from the shadows of gross darkness.
