💎 Jewels of Wisdom | The Six Pillars of Separation | Ezra | Nehemiah
When we speak of a "hedge," we are not merely discussing a physical boundary, but a spiritual atmosphere of protection that only exists through Separation. In the days of Ezra and Nehemiah, the restoration of the nation did not begin with a political speech or a financial windfall; it began with the painful, necessary act of drawing a line between the Sacred and the Profane.
The "Covenant Hedge" is the safety zone where the Law of YAH is the supreme authority of the home. Outside that hedge lies the shadows of the curse—systems designed to keep us in perpetual sin, scatter our children, destroy our families, and keep us dependent on our enemies for want of all things. To return to the hedge is to realize that we cannot heal in the same environment that made us sick.
These "Jewels" are intended to sharpen your discernment as we explore what it truly means to "come out from among them" so that we may finally stand upright as a redeemed people.
🛡️ Core Foundations of the Call
- Mandate of Ezra (Ezra 10:11): Restoration requires a public and private confession, followed by a physical separation from the "peoples of the land" and their unholy practices.
- The Wall of Nehemiah (Nehemiah 9:2): A nation without a wall is a nation without a soul. We must rebuild the boundaries of our households to protect the seed from external corruption.
- The Purpose of the Hedge: Separation is not about hatred for others; it is about undivided devotion to the One GOD who called us. We separate from the curse so that we may be free to cleave to the Blessing. Autonomy—or self-governance under the Law—is the very opposite of the dependence and powerlessness enforced by the curse.
📢 A Call to Separation: Returning to the Covenant Hedge
This call is rooted in the biblical mandates of Ezra and Nehemiah, urging the children of Israel to physically and spiritually separate from the influences that perpetuate the curse and prevent the restoration of the covenant.
I. The Mandate: Separation from the "People of the Land"
The crisis we face today—the continuation of the curses of debt, division, and destruction of the family foundation—is sustained by our failure to maintain the spiritual boundaries commanded by the Law. Just as the returning exiles in the days of Ezra and Nehemiah had to cut ties with the corrupting influence of the nations around them (Nehemiah 9:2; Ezra 10:11), we are commanded to separate ourselves from the modern "people of the land."
- The Spiritual Threat: The "people of the land" today are not defined by race, but by lawlessness, idolatry, and anti-covenant principles. Their influence—whether through media, secular education, or institutional reliance—prevents us from achieving true dominion and Shalom (peace).
- The Action: We must physically and spiritually separate ourselves from the places and practices that compel us to violate the Law. This separation is the renewal of the Hedge—the boundary that protects the covenant seed.
II. The Six Pillars of Separation
We must act decisively to secure our families and communities by establishing clear boundaries in areas where the curse thrives:
1. Separation from the Idolatry of Debt (Deuteronomy 28:44) 💰
We must reject the economic system designed to keep us the “tail." “He shall lend to thee, and thou shalt not lend to him: he shall be the head, and thou shalt be the tail.”
- The Act: Separate yourselves from the mindset that glorifies consumption over provision. Cut up credit cards, eliminate high-interest debt, and refuse to rely on usurious lending.
- The Goal: To reclaim the mandate to build and plant (Jeremiah 29:5) and establish financial autonomy under the blessing of the Law. “Build ye houses, and dwell in them; and plant gardens, and eat the fruit of them;”
2. Separation from the Tyranny of the Oppressor's Model 🔪
We must reject the internalized curse of rage and violence that we learned from the master.
- The Act: Separate yourselves from the violence, promiscuity, and drug use that are the outward manifestations of the "anguish of soul" (Deuteronomy 28:65). “And among these nations shalt thou find no ease, neither shall the sole of thy foot have rest: but YAH shall give thee there a trembling heart, and failing of eyes, and sorrow of mind..” The husband must separate from the path of destruction and cleave to his wife and his covenant duties. He must become the hedge (shield) of his family, shielding them from corrupt influnces of the serpent.
- The Goal: To establish peace (Shalom) within the home, making the family a sanctuary, not a war zone.
3. Separation from the Defilement of the Seed 🩸
We must protect the sanctity of our children and our bodies.
- The Act: Separate yourselves from the sexual lawlessness and perversions that defile the vessel and the seed (Leviticus 18). Protect your daughters and teach your sons the holiness of the marriage bed. Reject the legal right to destroy the life of the seed (abortion). “For whosoever shall commit any of these abominations, even the souls that commit them shall be cut off from among their people.” Leviticus 18:29
- The Goal: To ensure the holy seed is preserved and raised in the Law, guaranteeing the covenant line continues in righteousness.
4. Separation from False Education 📚
We must reclaim the authority to instruct our children in the Law.
- The Act: Separate yourselves from systems of education and media that teach a curriculum hostile to the identity and covenant Law of YAH. This may require home education, community schools, or aggressive monitoring to ensure children are not taught to despise their heritage or obey secular humanism or pledge allegiance to a flag (government) that is contrary to YAH and our nation.
- The Goal: To ensure the children's sight does not "fail with longing" for the world (Deuteronomy 28:32), but that they are grounded in the truth of the Covenant (Deuteronomy 6:7). “And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.”
5. Separation by the Law 📜
Our separation is secured by our obedience.
- The Act: Commit to keep and do the whole Law of YAH. This commitment is the highest form of separation, as it sets us apart from the ways of the world.
- The Goal: To ensure the blessings of the Law are activated and the curse is rendered void, leading to restoration and dominion in all that we do (Deuteronomy 29:9). “Keep therefore the words of this covenant, and do them, that ye may prosper in all that ye do.”
6. Separation from External Authority (Autonomy) 🛡️
We must reclaim sovereignty over our household affairs, rejecting dependence on the state for covenant duties.
- The Act: Separate yourselves from the mentality that requires external permission (licenses, court orders, welfare conditions) for internal covenant functions (marriage, discipline, provision). The husband is the sovereign guard/protector of the family under YAH, not the state.
- The Goal: To establish full household autonomy, making the home a self-governed domain under the authority of the Law, thus reversing the curse of perpetual dependence and powerlessness.
III. The Conclusion: Choose Life
We cannot pray for the curses to be lifted while our feet are still planted on the soil of lawlessness. The cry for deliverance (like the cry in Egypt) must be paired with the action of repentance and separation. Choose Life.
GOD still loves you, Israel. The call remains the same: Choose Life, Choose Blessing, Choose Undivided Devotion. Repent, Return, and be free from the shadows of gross darkness. Shalom Qodesh Qadasheem (set apart ones)!
