Tefillah (Prayer) | A Prayer for "One Law - One People"
Almighty YAH, the GOD of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, I come before you today seeking wisdom, knowledge, and understanding of Your Word. I thank you for the timeless truths found in your holy scriptures. As I explore the Biblical Law On Intermarriage, I ask that you open my heart and mind to receive your Word. Help me to see your faithfulness and to understand your heart for all people, as shown through stories like those of Moses, Rahab, Ruth, and Uriah. I know that this topic can be complex and at times misunderstood, therefore, I pray that you would quiet my own assumptions and preconceived notions. Help me to see the world through your eyes and to understand your heart, which values faithfulness above all else, including ethnicity.
I pause now to remember the breadth of Your covenant and the vastness of Your heart. You are the Elohim who chose one family to bless all the families of the earth.
I confess that we often forget this truth. We are quick to draw circles of belonging, and quicker still to stand outside the lines we ourselves have drawn. We see differences, and we often substitute them for division, separatism, and racism.
Today, I pray for the courage to live by Your mandate of "One Law, One People."
- Move my heart from pride to humility, that I may stop relying on my history or my status, or our blind leaders who causes our people to err, and recognize that in Your sight, we are all sojourners, who have been equally brought out of bondage and sustained by Your hand.
- Grant my eyes to see the resident alien, the stranger, and the outsider as You see them—not as a threat to our community, but as a test of our covenant. May we remember the command: "The stranger who dwells among you shall be to you as one born among you, and you shall love him as yourself" (Leviticus 19:34).
- Strengthen my hands to practice justice, not just for myself, but for all those who are vulnerable in our community. Teach me to uphold the law impartially, knowing that partiality is an abomination to You.
- Unify my spirit so that our community is not merely a collection of individuals, but a true reflection of Your Kingdom—a place where all are welcomed into the full measure of the covenant, bound together by the single, pure standard of Your holy Law.
May the words of your law forge in me a new commitment to inclusion, so that the world may see in our unity the undeniable power of Your love and the wisdom of Your eternal command.
I pray that your Word would not just be a matter of non-actionable knowledge, but a transformative experience that deepens my trust in you. May every word spoken and every truth shared draw me closer to your heart. Guide me and teach me to build my life on the foundation of faithfulness to you and a heart opened to those who desire to serve you regardless of ethnicity. In your holy name, I pray. Praise the Power of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, for He is worthy, most worthy, definitely worthy to be Praised! Selah
