12 Monthly Challenges to Elevate Your Faith | September's Faith Challenge | Finding Strength in Adversity

As we transition into September, a new season often brings new challenges, whether anticipated or unexpected. This month, our faith challenge is designed to equip you to navigate these times by Finding Strength in Adversity: Leaning on GOD’S Power.

The Old Testament is a testament to GOD’S unwavering strength and His presence with His people through every trial. From Moses facing Pharaoh to David confronting Goliath, and the Hebrews enduring exile, their stories reveal a GOD who is an ever-present help in times of trouble. This month, let's intentionally seek and rely on His divine power when faced with our own adversities.

The Challenge: Leaning on GOD'S Power in Difficult Times

For the month of September, let's commit to actively seeking GOD'S strength and recognizing His presence in the midst of our difficulties, rather than relying solely on our own capabilities.

Here’s how to engage with the challenge:

  1. Identify an Area of Adversity: Prayerfully consider one specific challenge, difficulty, or adversity you are currently facing or anticipate facing. This could be a personal struggle, a relational conflict, a professional hurdle, or a health concern.
  2. Daily Invocation for Strength: Each day, consciously invite GOD’S strength into this situation. This can be through a specific prayer, a declaration of dependence on Him, or simply by meditating on His power and sovereignty over your circumstance.
  3. Recall Past Deliverances: Once a week, reflect on a time in your life when GOD brought you through a difficult situation, or recall a powerful story from the Old Testament where GOD displayed His strength on behalf of His people (e.g., the parting of the Sea of Reeds (Red Sea), Daniel in the lion's den, David and Goliath). This act of remembrance builds faith for your current trial.
  4. Journal Your Journey of Strength: Keep a journal throughout September. Document the specific adversities you're facing, how you're leaning on GOD, and any moments where you perceive His strength at work. Note down scriptures that particularly resonate with you during these times.

Supporting Scriptures from the Old Testament

The Old Testament provides profound insights into finding strength in GOD:

  • Psalm 46:1:
"GOD is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble."

Principle Gleaned: This powerful verse assures us that GOD is not a distant observer but an immediate and reliable source of refuge and strength, especially when we are overwhelmed by difficulties. It teaches us to run to Him as our ultimate safe haven and empowering force in times of distress.
  • Joshua 1:9:
"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for YAH your GOD will be with you wherever you go."

Principle Gleaned: Spoken to Joshua as he faced immense challenges, this command emphasizes that our strength and courage come from the assurance of GOD’S constant presence. It teaches us that we can face daunting tasks and overcome fear and discouragement because the Almighty GOD is always with us, enabling us to persevere.

Conclusion

Finding strength in adversity is not about avoiding hardship, but about transforming our response to it through faith. By intentionally leaning on GOD’S power this September, you will not only navigate your challenges with greater resilience but also deepen your understanding of His faithfulness and His ability to work through your weaknesses. May you discover His strength made perfect in your life.
