Tefillah (Prayer) | Marriage Prayer for "One Flesh" Basar Echad

“Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.” Genesis 2:24


Almighty GOD, the creator of all, the 

healer of broken promises and fractured marriages,  

 I stand before you, in awe of Your design, so pure and true, 

for you said that it is not good that man should be alone. 

You fashioned woman, his helpmeet, a vessel of grace,

And man, her counterpart, in his rightful place.

Bless their union, an order of the divine,

Two souls, two hearts, into “one flesh” combined.

Guide their steps, on this sacred path they tread,

May your love and plan for them be forever “one” as You said.

Grant them patience, when storms arise,

And wisdom to see your divine plan in each other's eyes.

Let forgiveness flow, like a gentle stream,

Healing wounds, mending hearts,

restoring each other’s dreams.

For You have said, divorce is not Your will,

A two-fold bond unbroken, remains stronger still.

May they grow together, constantly by each another's side,

Through all of life's challenges, with You as their guide.

Let their home be a haven, filled with joy and happiness,

A testament to their love, devotion, and eternal faithfulness.

In every joy, and in every sorrow shared,

May their commitment to your divine plan

remain steadfast and unimpaired.

For marriage is a symbol of basar echad, “one-flesh”,

for all nations to see,

Reflecting Your divine covenant between you and Israel,

a blessing of peace, unity, and perfect harmony.
